RACE DAY DETAILS

Experience one of the most scenic and traffic free courses imaginable. The Sun Valley Half Marathon and relay runs primarily along the City of Sun Valley and Wood River paved path system. The course starts and finishes in Sun Valley Village on the spacious grass field in front of the Sun Valley Pavilion.

Day/Start Time
Saturday, June 2, 2012 –  9:00am
The Half Marathon and relay start and finish are located at the Sun Valley Resort pavilion. The resort is located less than a mile from the Ketchum town center.

Parking
Parking is available across the street (Dollar Rd.) from the pavilion.
A secure bag drop is located at the start/finish area for keeping warm and/or dry clothes for pre and post race.

Timing
Electronic timing will be used for fast, accurate results. Relay runners will be using a “chipped baton” which is passed from one runner to the next at the relay location.

Packet Pickup
Packets can be picked up on the day before the race at the Elephant’s Perch shop in Ketchum from 12pm until 6pm. Late registration will also be available at that time. Timing chips and chipped batons will be assigned at that time. Day of race packet pickup is available beginning at 7am until 8am at the start/finish area. Timing chips and chipped batons will be available at day of race packet pick up.

T-shirts
All entrants will receive a Sun Valley Half Marathon technical T-shirt. HOWEVER, only pre-registered “Planning Ahead” entrants will be guaranteed their size and gender choice.
Women’s specific T-shirt sizing and cut are available for our female participants.

Awards
Awards will be given to the first three male and female finishers overall, the age group winner in 5 year age groups, the first place relay team. The first male and female to reach the summit of Elkhorn Hill (Scott Sport King and Queen of the Mountain) will win a pair of Scott running shoes, provided they continue to complete the rest of the course.

Kids’ Zone
An elaborate and festive Kids’ Zone will be open during and after the half marathon for family members of participants to enjoy. The kids races will include several mini-race options staged at 11:30 AM around the Kid’s Zone.
